About Me
I am proud of my heritage and often weave it into my work, from the palette of the Saltire to subtle tartan patterns. I thrive on the challenge of design and code, holding myself to high standards while maintaining the pace needed to deliver. I have a healthy, competitive drive and always look for a win, but I recognise that true growth comes from every outcome.
Values & Beliefs
My personal and professional standards are built on being respectful, honest, and reliable to everyone I encounter. I am a friendly and adaptable person who leads with compassion and I believe that a positive and flexible environment is where the best work happens. I maintain a forward-thinking mindset and recognise that while I cannot change the past I can always learn from mistakes to ensure they are not repeated.
Integrity is a core part of who I am and I believe in speaking up when something is not right. I am committed to ensuring that every space I inhabit—whether it is a digital interface or a workplace culture—is safe, fair, and rooted in mutual respect.
Design & Development Philosophy
To me, great design isn't just about how something looks—it's about how it feels and how effortlessly it guides the user. I approach every project with accessibility and inclusion at the core, ensuring digital spaces feel safe and welcoming for everyone. By bridging the gap between rigorous UX planning and clean front-end code, I build digital experiences that solve real problems without unnecessary complexity.
My Creative Toolkit
Behind every project is a reliable set of tools that help turn concepts into reality. For user experience, wireframing, and interface layouts, I rely on Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). For bringing those designs to life, I build with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Python, self-hosting projects and deploying modern, responsive web systems.
Education
BSc (Hons) Web Design and Development
My journey into this field started back in school, where I focused on art and design—fascinated by visuals and told to stick with it—while also taking computing. I initially moved on to digital art in college, but found I didn't truly enjoy it the way I expected. That prompted a pivot to a certificate in computing, which led naturally into completing an HNC and HND in Web Design & Development.
Although my original plan when COVID-19 hit was to switch over to graphic design, circumstances steered me forward into studying Web Design and Development at Edinburgh Napier University instead, where I graduated with my BSc Honours degree.
Travel & Exploration
I’m at my best when discovering places I've never been. I love throwing myself into new cultures and drawing inspiration from global architectural styles.
Interests & Passions
Art and design have always been a passion of mine and I have always focused more on the design side. Bringing that creative eye to UX and coding feels natural to me and I often see my projects as a hobby rather than just work. When I need to focus and immerse myself in a project I find that music (especially pop, rock, and EDM like Avicii and Imagine Dragons) is the perfect tool to help me stay in the zone.
Outside of my work I enjoy watching films and television and I am a passionate football fan. I follow Dundee United because of my local roots and my family, and I was introduced to Newcastle through family as well. My interest in Barcelona began when I watched them play Dundee United in friendlies and I have enjoyed following their style of play ever since.
